Hello again & welcome to the ‘Tigi Bed Head Hard To Get Pliable Paste’ Review guide.

The little blue ball which will give your hair definition

This little blue ball will transform your hair into a textured masterpiece!

The massive Tigi Bed Head range has a little blue ball in it’s Bed Head line called ‘Hard To Get Pliable Paste’, it contains 42g of firm, non-greasy dry paste, smelling of watermelon. When you first open the Hard To Get I suggest keeping the insert lid covering the product as it develops a skin on the product, and slowly drys it out, always keep the lid on to keep it fresh..

To apply the ‘Hard To Get Pliable Paste’ you rub your middle finger in a circular movement in the tub to soften the product a little, do not dig in as you will apply far too much! Keep the product to your finger tips and not all over your palm, this again wastes lots. Rub all your finger tips together until it goes from a white cream to a clear cream, then apply to dry hair only, grabbing or rubbing lightly in the hair while pulling outwards on short hair.  On longer hair you can apply like your were shampooing, then finish the pieces around your face by just stroking downwards to join the ends together.

This products is a huge seller and will never go away or be discontinued (I hope)

The Hair Room Test Score is 8/10,

The Tigi Bed Head Hard To Get would of scored higher but there’s not that much in the tub for £14.50 rrp, so lets have a bigger pot Tigi?  Maybe a Biggie?  100ml?

You can purchase the Hard To Get on our website for just £11.90, try it and you will be Hooked!

Mark

Welcome to The Hair Room blog, by popular demand we are starting a new series of short blogs on ‘how to use the product properly’, I’ve been hairdressing for 25 years, and I have used Tigi Haircare products for 22 years, also the amazing Redken products for 6+ years, so please ask me ”Mark’ what you would like reviewing… :-)

FIrst up is the most common product I always get asked about, the amazing ‘Tigi Bed Head Small Talk’.

Tigi Bed Head Small Talk - 3 products in 1 !

A amazing styling product that works on all hair types!

TIgi Bed Head Small Talk is 3 products in 1, it has a light scent of blueberry and is a massive seller in-salon and on-line. Bed Head Small Talk can be used as a mousse type product for brush drying, only use one pump and apply like you would a mousse (rub into hands before application), it’s a bit thick and sticky on application but is very lightweight on the finished hair, Bed Head Small Talk creates big volume with no crispiness on the finished look or feel.

The second use for Bed Head Small Talk is to apply 1-2 pumps to very curly hair, ends to middles, not the roots. I suggest that you twiddle it in in small amounts the lock the ends together, then diffuse dry as normal, slowest speed and the hottest heat. Your curls will be individual, fat and fuzz free! Small Talk is very similar to ‘Catwalk Curlesque Curls Rock Amplifier‘ (in fact I bet it is the same product with a different smell).
And lastly, using a small amount, (half a pump) it can be applied to short hair as a light to medium styling product, great for getting volume without the firmness some products give. Blow dry in or leave to dry naturally for a shiny finish.

The Hair Room Review Score;

10/10! – no really, it is that good.

Yes it has full marks because it has ruled in everyday salon use for 13+ years and still it sells like crazy, if you haven’t used Small Talk yet then I suggest you try it.

You can purchase Tigi Bed Head Small Talk  in our secure web shop.

The Tigi Haircare ‘Get Close’ Seminar on 26/03/12.

The Hair Room invited to the latest Tigi Roadshow

The ticket from what was a fantasic show on the new looks for spring / summer 2012

Welcome to what was a great night hosted by TIGI Haircare, it was called the GET CLOSE seminar & was held at the Hilton Hotel in Liverpool, UK.

Nick Irwin (Tigi’s Global Creative Director) was on top form as usual showing us why he is at the forefront of the Tigi Creative Team, also later on in the evening two times haidresser of the year Andrew Collinge entertained in his true colours, this guy is so nice to listen to, most of his appearance was based around his iPad demo of his New App (funny) then with his skills he was showing us why he has won hairdresser of the year twice!  his ‘up do’ or ‘Put-Up’ skills are the best I’ve seen, which he makes look so easy with just one hair pin! (pics of Andrew & his team coming soon)

First of all Nick Irwins model, using the Bed Head Candy Fixations Totally Baked and the Bed Head Candy Fixations Sugar Dust, & the finishing touches using Bed Head Hard Head hairspray.

This month see’s the release of the brand new ‘ghd Air salon hair dryer’ – Is it a proper salon quality hair dryer or just a look-a-like toy for £99.00?

When we first got the ghd Air hair dryers there was an ‘Air’ of excitement :-) . We couldn’t wait to test it’s powerful 2100w motor on the thickest head of  hair (at 2100w it’s a much larger motor than any hairdryer out there) & to test the heat output over a very long hair blow dry.  The speed of blow drying time required in a busy salon environment was also measured.  Our current salon hair dryers are the ‘Wella – Sahira’s’  which we have used for the last six+ years, these are very a difficult hair dryer to beat, so, lets have a closer look at the ghd Air…

The ghd Air Hair Dryer

The brand new addition to the ghd family

First of all, the presentation of the ghd Air is the usual first class quality product as you’d expect, you really feel like you’ve purchased something special as with all ghd products. The box is the kind of box you don’t want to throw away as it is so well made, you also feel like you have purchased a great item without even seeing what’s in the box.

Inside the box; there’s the ghd Air hairdryer (of course) and 2 concentrator end nozzles, one is very wide, wider than I have used before and the other is normal width nozzle. The extra wide nozzle is so wide it won’t fit through our salon hairdryer holders on the wall, but thats not really a problem as the drying time with this nozzle is cut down a quite lot. The ghd Air is not as big in size as you may expect, it’s also very light for a salon dryer.

The opening at the end of the nozzles is very thin, what this means it will increase the heat flow by a massive amount, but with all this heat the nozzles get unbelievably hot!, DO NOT TOUCH NOZZLE AFTER BLOW DRYING!, these nozzles with burn you if touched after drying, they get as hot as the straightening iron plates! (no really!) I suppose the embossed warning triangle on the nozzle is there for a reason, Ouch!

The Hair Room Top Tip; use a towel to remove the nozzle or use the cold shot button for a few seconds to cool it down, don’t put the hot nozzle on a surface which could melt !

The cold shot button is on the front

The cold shot button is in the perfect place at the front top of the handle.

The Noise Level is so quiet everyone has commented, that’s down to the extra large motor which runs with no stress to the dryer motor at all, you can actually hear yourself think when there’s 6 going at any one time in the salon, you can hear other people talk whilst using them in the salon. We  have also found that we rarely put the dryer on full speed, but even so, it’s not that noisy on full speed.

Cleaning your ghd hair dryer; To clean the ghd Air is a very fiddly thing to do, on the back, as with all hair dryers there’s a metal filter to catch the fluff and the invisible dust dryers seem to collect? when you undo the back to clean, do it with a fine bristle brush or similar, also try not to let metal drop out, this way you’ll easy get it back in, otherwise if it comes out make sure it goes back in exactly the same way which isn’t as easy as it sounds, you think you have got it in right way and then it won’t go on.

The filter on the back

The filter on the back is very tricky to get back on after cleaning...

I’m going on about this because if you snap the dryer attachments between the filter and the dryer, this won’t be covered under warranty and you will have a dryer which sucks you hair inside very easily and gives you a free haircut!;-) As with all dryers they all break easily if you force the filter back on the wrong way.

The Controls; Next up is the flight deck!, the speed and heat controls of the ghd Air hair dryer…

The controls are on the back?

The controls are on the back? have they put the handle on the wrong way round?

I’ve have never used a dryer with the controls at the back but it works, the dryer sits in your hand really comfortably, without knocking into the controls, thus giving a better long term grip for those 30 minute long hair blow dry’s.
ghd say that ‘the dryer has been designed by hairdressers for hairdressers’  nice touch ghd :-) .

The Hair Room Test Results;
Lets face it in the last few years ghd have released some rubbish hairdryers, they brought out a travel hairdryer what screamed at you and then blew up after the first half hour blow drying, they all came back to us of course for a replacement. (please don’t worry though, ghd refunded everyone )

A Missing Feature?;
ghd have left one very important thing out though, a diffuser! for those with curls. I’m told by ghd that they are bringing out an attachment which is a long straight pipe what clicks in the front, just like the nozzles do, so any universal diffuser out there will work fine with it, so if you have curls, hang on until the diffuser attachment is released very soon…

The Hair Room Salon Environment Test..

The ghd Air is a very cool hair dryer you will want to own, it is also a long term investment, it will last you for many many years. We have changed all our salon hair dryers to the ghd Air and we now have great confidence in the durability and life of these hair dryers to recommend to you. We have sold lots of  the ghd air’s already with great feedback coming in ..

Buy one now and throw away that screaming old hair dryer which smells of burning every time you use it, invest in your hair, it’s your look..

The Score is…

9/10 –  A brilliant all round salon quality hair dryer which is more than capable of all-day in-salon use, as for home use, this dryer will last you forever.

Our score would of been 10/10 if  the diffuser attachment was in the box, a great hair dryer from the mighty ghd.

Redken Argan Oil is a serum product we have been using it in our salons for a few weeks now, Argan Oil is a lightweight dry-in oil that will replenish those missing oils within your hair.

Redken Argan Oil conditions and creates lotsof healthy shine.

Redken Argan Oil is a great blow dry-in smoothing product.

Have a look below at the science of the before and after effects of applying 2 drops of Argan Oil.

The hair shaft before Argan Oil is used

Above: The outer cuticle before Argan Oil is used, flared up and causing a dull finish.

The hair shaft after Argan Oil is used.

After: the outer cuticle is now sealed, causing lots of shine & much more strength.

Applying Argan Oil to clean wet hair:

1. To Protect: Use as a pre-blow-dry shield

Apply a small amount of Argan-6 Oil in palm (2 Pumps) and work through your hands and then apply to freshly shampooed and conditioned hair (towel dried is best). It then instantly detangles & protects to  increase softness & smoothness. Beginning at the ends of your hair, use a wide-tooth comb and gently work out tangles by combing downwards. Apply more drop of Argan Oil if needed. Blow-dry into your usual style.

2. To Illuminate your hair: Use as a styling shine booster

Layer or blend Argan-6 Oil with your favourite styling products for that ultimate shine you blow dry into your hair. We suggest you add 2 drops of Argan Oil with a small amount of satinwear ultimate blow-dry lotion, apply to damp hair. Style your hair as usual, mega soft finish without any oiliness.

3. To Soften your hair: Use with your conditioning treatment &  mix them together

After shampooing, add 3 drops of Argan Oil to your favourite conditioner, mix them together and apply to towel-dried hair. Leave on 5 minutes. Rinse thoroughly for completely restored hair shaft.

The Hair Room Test Results:

Redken Argan Oil works very well for conditioning & smoothing frizzy hair whilst blow drying, adding to your conditioner is my favourite, this product is very versatile i think you’ll agree. You must not worry either, it won’t weigh your hair down at all, even though it’s an oil, it’s really that unnoticeable,  2-3 drops remember & no more!

Review score: 10/10 ‘perfect’

Any questions please ask us?

Big Tigi Haircare News For 2012,

Hair Reborn !

Tigi Hair Reborn

The brand new premium range from Tigi Haircare

Tigi Hair Reborn Sample Packets

Samples of the range.

A New Tigi Product line to compete with Redken, Aveda & Kerastase?

There will be three ranges within the Tigi Hair Reborn family of products at first, one range for normal hair, one for dry/frizzy hair, and then one range for hair which needs rebuilding.  There is also an in-salon only set of treatments called Style Treats, this is for hairdresser use only.

I’m guessing here, (I’ve sold Tigi for a while now… 21 years:)  a range of styling products is on it’s way which is sure to follow  each of the new 3 ranges..  watch this space for further details.

First up,

For normal to dry hair ‘A Journey of Resurgence‘, with a shampoo & a conditioner called ‘Hydra-Synergy, and a treatment called Time Extend Moisture Lotion‘, these look great  in their new cleaner looking packaging. They look very much like the Kerastase & Redken in persona. Notice that these are not called Bed Head Or Catwalk, Just Tigi on the bottle.. This is the first time they have released a brand just called Tigi, I hope its going to be special?

Then next in the range, for more dry to frizzy hair, its called, A Journey of Serenity‘, again this is a trio of products, with a shampoo & conditioner called ‘Sublime Smooth’ Nourishment & Protection‘ and a treatment called ‘Smoothing Texture Refine Masque‘ which looks great and smell amazing.

Then third in the new ‘Hair Reborn‘ range is called ‘A journey of Awakening‘ which is for weak & very damaged hair. The shampoo and conditioner are called ‘Deep Restoration‘ which is protein based to repair from the cortex, that’s the very centre of the hair shaft. The treatment in this range is called ‘Reparative Nocturnal Therapy‘ as the name suggests, this will be an over night treatment like the current Tigi S-Factor ‘Wonderful Tonight’ Treatment.

All the shampoo’s across the 3 Hair Reborn ranges will cost £17.95, and the conditioners across the 3 ranges will cost £22.95, the treatments will be £26.95, they do seem a little expensive as you might agree but what they do to your hair is revolutionary, Tigi say…

Hair Reborn will only be available in hair salons and not for sale on the internet at all?!?. Call in to our salons to purchase this new amazing range, as we will be the 2nd in the country to stock this new exciting Tigi Haircare range.

Hair Reborn will only be sold in selected professional hair salons, & not in any online store ever!… says Tigi.

Remember, You saw them here first at the hair room.
