Catwalk Curls Rock Amplifier | The best product for curly hair?

Tigi Catwalk Curls Rock Amplifier - The Hair Room Review

There's one Tigi product that has stood the test of time, it was launched in the mid 90's with the launch of the Tigi Catwalk brand, Tigi Catwalk Curls Rock Amplifier, the best product for curls ever! I've been a hairdresser for 30 years and I specialise in curls and longer hair, this product is truly amazing on all curls.

How to use Tigi Catwalk Curls Rock Amplifier properly.

How much Amplifier should I use?

If you have very thick shoulder length 'massive head of curls' then you are probably going to use about 2-3 full pumps, not all at the same time though, you will apply it in half pump amounts. On normal shoulder length curls you will probably use 1 pump. On shorter hair you may only use half a pump.

Application of the Catwalk Curls Rock Amplifier

First of all before using any Amplifier your hair must be freshly shampoo'ed and conditioned and combed through. Then using your thumbs or a comb (you don't have to be neat with the sectioning) you are going to section your hair into 3 or 4 horizontal sections. Maybe leave out a 4cm section at the bottom, then twist the rest of your hair up on top of your head and secure it with a clip.

Then apply about half a pump of Curls Rock Amplifier to your palm, then with your other hand dip your forefinger and the middle finger, (not scoop) into the Amplifier, then grab quite a big curl and just twiddle onto the middle to ends (not the roots) like you do when playing with your while hair watching TV?.

You will only twiddle about 4-6 curls on the first section, keep the curls fat as we pull them apart when they are dry later. Do that to the whole head, you will probably twiddle about 40 curls by the end of the application, it takes about 15 minutes in total but it's worth it in the end.

Drying the curls.

Once you have a full head of twiddled curls you should then use a diffuser, never without! Put your head upside down and place the fat curls into the diffuser and then lift the diffuser to touch your scalp, do not scrunch dry!, just let the diffuser do the work.

Lift the curls an fill the diffuser like a pan, Your heat and speed settings on your dryer should be on full heat and slowest drying speed. Do not over-dry the hair as your hair will start to grow huge and start to frizz.

Finishing the Curls after diffusing.

Once your curls have joined themselves together they may feel a little bit crisp, it's not like a mousse crisp, more firm than crisp. Now gently pull the curls apart into 2 or 3 curls, do this to whole full head. Only you choose how fat you want your curls to be of course.

Curly hair needs a lot less shampooing than straight hair, only shampoo about twice a week maximum (unless you work in a smelly environment of course)

Re-Work the Catwalk Curls Rock Amplifier the day after.

In a morning you should wet your hands under the tap and squash a little water into your curls until lightly damp and then re-diffuse your hair as before, do not add more Curls Rock Amplifier, the water reworks the Amplifier so you can use it again day after day, only apply Amplifier after shampooing, not everyday.

The History of Tigi Catwalk Curls Rock Amplifier.

As you can see by the packaging changes below, Catwalk Amplifier has had a few different looks, the one on the left is the original packaging and identical to a toothpaste applicator, and only 100ml in the bottle too. The one in the middle started a curl range within Tigi Catwalk called Curlesque and gained an extra 50ml to 150ml. The one on the right has moved back to the original Catwalk logo you will notice, and it's lost the Curlesque name thank goodness because I can't spell it lol.

The Catwalk Amplifier has now been added the Tigi Catwalk texturising range.
